Graduation

We're approaching to graduate season...in this case I found some early birds!

Obelisk view

The Lincoln Memorial is plenty of terrific spots to picture the Obelisk and the National Mall. It is a nice job getting there and start exploring new "points of view". In this case it took me a while waiting for the right moment. There is always people wandering from one side to the other...so keep patient!

The former Farmers and Mechanics Branch building in Georgetown. Today's PNC Bank. This is a Mamiya 7II with Kodak TMax 400 shot. I like very much the character of the TMax 400, one of my favorite black and white films!

Nice Dudes

Picturing strangers is a tricky issue. There are different technics and every one has its own methodology.  There is plenty of stuff on the topic on the Internet. In any case this is to me a vey interesting and exciting kind of photography. The more I practice the more I enjoy it.  In this occasion the guy was very collaborative. He gave me the email and asked me to send him the pictures once ready. Of course, I did.

Constitution Gardens

Welcome to Constitution Park. To me one of the most exciting places to shoot the Obelisk. The oasis located at the very heart of the park offers many possibilities for the shooter. The picture is a digital one taken with a Leica M9 Monochrom.

Banks of the Potomac

In the Potomac area in Washington DC you'll find always nice spots to shoot from. Don' t miss the people!

The Willard in DC

The Willard Intercontinental, this is one of the most emblematic hotels in DC. It is worth the time to get inside an enjoy the classical decoration. No problem for pictures! This is a digital Leica Monochrom handled picture.

Baltimore

A view of Baltimore Inner Harbor. This is a truly digital image taken by a Leica Monochrom. The Leica Monochrom is one of the most amazing cameras I've ever shoot with

Analogic Union Station

As promised this is one of the analogic shootings at Washington DC Union Station. It was shooted with a Hasselblad SWC/M and film was Fujifilm Neopan 100 Acros. This is a very nice film with truly tiny grain. Will continue trying!

Vilabertrán

This is the Vilabertran's cloister. I was experimenting there with a Pentax 67II. A huge camera, one of the biggest medium format you can have in your hands. It is not the best guy to travel with but sometimes even without tripod and with fast films you can get very good handheld results.
My configuration at this time was: Pentax 67II. 55-100mm f/4.5 and Kodak Portra 400. Edited with Lightroom and Photoshop.

Outside the Union Station

The outside area of the Union Station offers interesting spots for street view photography. The architectonic environment it makes the difference!

The precise instant

This is one of the most requested. It was taken in Brugge (Belgium) as I was wandering with my Monochrom in a humid Sunday afternoon. I think it makes the point on Cartier-Bresson's precise instant.

Old gear, new passion

In the digital era old gear is still an exciting experience. Shooting film is an amazing experience too. You should not miss it! From my point of view medium format would be the most interesting way to start with. In my case I got into business with an old Rollei and I'm absolutely satisfied. If you are more tripod or studio oriented don't miss the Hasselblad's! Another camera that is absolutely fine to me is the Mamiya 7II. I think it is truly difficult to get something sharper! If you are fine with Leicas you'll not go wrong with the 7II as it is a telemetric medium format. Some say it is the medium format equivalent to a Leica M.

Getting a Cab

New York street view shooting with an old Rolleiflex is a must! Use Kodak TMax or TX for best results!

DC Channel

Georgetown in Washington DC offers a marvelous backyard near the Potomac river. It is the historic area of the Washington channel. Nice place to go shooting. At this time I was supported by a Hasselblad SWC, the results are gorgeous, at least for me ;-)

Unión Station

Some time ago I discovered the beauty of the Washington Union Station for shooting. Black & White has enormous possibilities there. Since now I've been using a Leica Monochrom for the job. Some weeks ago I took the Hassi SWC. Right now I´m waiting for the lab scans. In a few days more I'll be able to share the results.

Down to San Fernando's Mews

The Castillo of San Fernando's Mews is a quite and special place to get in. There are many spots there to shoot from. In this occasion I opted for a general perspective. Gear was a Hasselblad SWC, one of the best cameras ever made! This is a film scanned image. If you ever get in Figueres, don't miss this place...and don´t forget your camera!

Welcome to my photography blog

This is the Castillo de San Fernando in Figueres, Spain. I´ve been there for several times shooting with different gear and experimenting new spots. This is one of my favorites to shoot from. In this case I was shooting with a Canon EOS 5Ds and a Canon EF 16-35 f 2.8 L II zoom. The current perspective is a 16mm. I decided to go for B&W, color was nice but meaningless for me in this case. The picture has been edited using Photoshop and several Topaz filters.
